Students will receive instruction and practical
experience in cleaning and servicing furnaces, adjusting pilots, the
operation of electronic ignition, maintenance checks, checking
thermocouples, thermostat operations, and adjustment of heat
anticipators, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting. The course will

Propane & Natural Gas

Proper Handling Procedures & Practices |

This 6 hour program will meet the requirements
set by the Kansas State Fire Marshall. The regulations promulgated state
that all persons working on or servicing a propane system must receive
training regarding the operation of the systems before providing service
to a system.
The presentation will include a film showing the hazards
and results of not following the prescribed practices, as required by
NFPA Pamphlet 54 and 58 and the Authority Having Jurisdiction. The
instructor will also present actual court cases to illustrate the
outcome of not conducting repairs or servicing according to the
regulations.
*The instruction provided will be directed towards
individuals working in the plumbing and/or heating and air conditioning

This course covers the basic cycle of
refrigeration including terms and definitions pertaining to
refrigeration. The students will learn to install service valves and
gauges, to evacuate and recharge a system, and also how to read and
operate a voltohm meter, perform copper to copper welding and
troubleshoot domestic freezers and air conditioners. [54 Hrs] [Mike

This combination Workshop and Certification Test will
permit participants to meet the requirements of the 1990 Clean Air Act
and EPA regulations. Topics covered include: ozone depletion, health
impacts, Clean Air Act, recovery and recycling equipment procedures,
refrigerant handling safety and new refrigerants.
The Certification Test which is given on Thursday
evening will be graded by a National Organization (VGI Training) and the
results will be mailed directly to each student with a certificate of
completion and a wallet card specifying the level of certification
achieved. [.5 Cr.]

Introduction to Plumbing
This course is designed for maintenance personnel and homeowners who
would like to gain knowledge and skills in the area of plumbing. Participants will learn firsthand, how to handle the
most common types of plumbing maintenance problems that are encountered
in facility and home maintenance. They will learn their new skills by
actually doing them, hands-on, in a fun, non threatening learning
